The Challenge

As the parent company of many other companies, Historic Tours of America needed a strong corporate presence on the web. They also needed the ability to engage visitors and push traffic and sales to all their subsidiaries’ websites.

Our mission was to give the Historic Tours of America corporate website a brand new look that conveys the historical aspect of the company while giving visitors an opportunity to explore the companies they represent.

The Strategy

To achieve our goal, we set out to give the new site a consistent look and feel. We added vintage photos and backgrounds, used traditional fonts and tied in Historic Tours’ patriotic color scheme. To help market their companies, each of their six cities was given their own page with tabs dedicated to the various tours and attractions offered there. Additionally, separate pages were created to discuss their land tours, water tours, attractions, retail, school tours and more. Redesigning the flow of the site allowed visitors to learn about Historic Tours while giving them external links to learn more at each company’s website.

The Results

Referring traffic from the Historic Tours of America website increased dramatically. Conch Tour Train’s increased by 2,629%, Yankee Freedom’s by 15,480%, Old Town Trolley Tours by 280%, San Diego Seals by 15,443%, Truman Little White House by 1,426% and Ghosts & Gravestones’ traffic increased by 3,252%.
