The Southernmost House Historic Inn Website Design & Development
Built in 1896, the Southernmost House Historic Inn is Key West’s original southernmost structure. Once the family home to a prominent Key West businessman, the Victorian beauty has played host to U.S. Presidents, dignitaries, celebrities and others. Today it remains a historical Key West icon, welcoming guests to discover its intriguing past and significance to the island.
Although the Southernmost House has been a well-known landmark in Key West for over a century, the Inn was seeing a dramatic decline in guests staying at the hotel. Their brand was diminishing as a result of other hotels and inns using similar names, by the fact that the guest house was once a museum and because many people were not aware that they could actually stay there.
Our goal was to eliminate any confusion about the Southernmost House, to separate it from competing hotels and to show people its amazing beauty and its historical significance.
Working closely with the owners and management, we rebranded the hotel, designed a new website and created a new logo. We began by giving each of the guestrooms and suites a name that represents their historical importance. Next, we went on location to shoot new photos and created a new, modern website that ties in the colors of the house and accentuates the house’s beauty. The new site showcases the expansive and elegant rooms and gives guests a chance to preview the property and all its amenities.
With their new logo and branding, the Southernmost House saw an increase of 113% in the average time visitors spent on the website and a 95% increase in the number of pages per visit within the first six months.
