John, a graduate of the University of Florida with a BFA degree, founded BlackDog Advertising in 1989 with the foresight of using technology to help facilitate his creative ideas.

Prior to founding BlackDog Advertising, John worked under Alex Bogusky, creative director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. CP+B has been named “Agency of the Year” 13 times in the trade press.

Throughout his 25-year career in Advertising, John has managed brands for a diverse group of clients representing industries ranging from healthcare, financial services, technology and food service to travel and leisure and many in between. John has helped such clients as ADT Security, Northern Trust, Jamaica Tourism, Del Monte Fruit, Pillsbury, Burger King, Taco Bell, Baptist Health Systems, Miami-Dade, Crystal Springs, Smirnoff, Historic Tours of America, Fury Water Adventures and many more to successfully build their brands.

Kathy Penney, Vice President & Strategic Marketing Manager

Kathy is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing. Her strategic planning and competitive analysis skills have helped numerous clients gain an edge in their marketplace. During her 17 plus years at BlackDog, she has served in various positions, including Account Executive and Graphic Designer, which she feels give her greater insight into her current role as Vice President and Strategic Marketing Manager. Kathy applies her knowledge and expertise to develop and implement better, more efficient and innovative marketing plans for our clients.

Erika Jacoby, Art Director, Print

Erika has been with BlackDog Advertising for 15 years. She’s a graduate of Flagler College with a Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design. Early in her career, Erika spent much of her time designing advertising and marketing materials including direct mail, posters, brochures and ads. Although print has been her passion in the past, she now enjoys using her artistic abilities and marketing sense to create effective web based campaigns including e-newsletters, email blasts, mobile sites and more.

Peter is a graduate of the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. He brings more than 20 years of advertising experience to BlackDog. Peter has been with BlackDog for 14 years. Peter has a sincere passion for creating graphics that communicate the message and/or brand of our clients in the most intriguing manner. During his years in advertising and marketing, he has earned a reputation for his talents in typography, logo design and print.

Wendy Meyerson, Copywriter

Wendy is an award-winning copywriter who has been writing for a wide range of clients for 25 years. Before joining the BlackDog team, she was a Marketing Manager for Tradestation Technologies and Air Jamaica Vacations, the Associate Marketing Producer for PBS Public Television in South Florida, a copywriter for Federated Department Stores and GS&B Advertising and an independent marketing consultant/copywriter for numerous clients.

Wendy graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in communications and a major in advertising. Throughout her career, she has enjoyed writing compelling copy for a diverse group of clients including Hilton Hotels, Hotels.com, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Club Med, Johnson & Johnson, FPL, United Way of Miami-Dade, Sprint, Citigroup International, PRC, Vitas Healthcare, Simon Malls and more. Wendy’s greatest thrill comes when she’s able to transform the written word into a visual image for the reader and then move them to think, feel and ultimately react.

Wendy has generated several Silver Addy Awards for her copywriting contributions.

Mitch Meyers - Internet Marketing Manager

Mitch Meyers, Internet Marketing Manager

Mitch graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a major in Sports Marketing. Before joining BlackDog, Mitch worked at the prestigious Jim McLean Golf School at Doral Golf Resort and Spa. There, he managed all of the sales and marketing efforts and helped in corporate business strategy for 10 other locations around the world. During his 4 years there, he increased sales to the highest level in company history, reorganized operational systems and completely redesigned the websites for all 11 locations. As BlackDog’s Internet Marketing Manager, Mitch strives to implement accurate data tracking and reporting systems to give our clients real-time assessments and recommendations to increase ROI and ROAS with their marketing budget.

After growing up in Northern Chicago, Samantha headed for sunny St. Augustine, Florida where she attended Flagler College. Upon earning her degree in Graphic Design, she moved to Ohio, where she worked in an advertising agency for five years as an Art Director. For Sam, one of the most exciting aspects of her job is taking a vision from idea to reality.

Kevin’s advanced knowledge and expertise in various platforms and programs allows him to offer our clients high-end video and motion graphics, print and web graphics that are unsurpassed in the industry.

Kevin has won an Emmy Award as well as several Addy Awards for his online work at BlackDog Advertising.

Mylene Valerius, Production Manager/Estimating

Mylene began her career in advertising in the marketing department of the Miami Beach Convention Center/Jackie Gleason Theater. Her varied experience also includes several years at UPS Latin America and working as an Account Executive at TAG Advertising in Miami. She is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Advertising.

Mylene prides herself on ensuring that each of our clients get exactly what they contracted for and that it’s within the budget they approved. She utilizes her organizational abilities and meticulous attention to details to make sure our clients are always in the loop when it comes to cost. Marcy Russillo has 20 years of experience in advertising. She began her career at BBDO learning as much as she could about media and broadcast traffic. From the very beginning, she knew that she wanted to be a top-notch media buyer.

As a Media Manager for Tinsley Advertising for more than 9 years, Marcy supervised buyers on the Paramount Pictures account and planned and bought media for numerous retail accounts. She also worked for 7 years at JL Media, a national buying service, and was responsible for placing media throughout Florida and in other markets for a variety of clients.

Marcy’s extensive knowledge in the media landscape and her tough negotiating skills allow her to get the best rates and added value for our clients. Her genuine love of her job combined with her personal approach ensures that we are able to maintain strong relationships with the media.

David Lindsey, Internet Marketing Assistant

A graduate of William Paterson University of New Jersey, David earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Financial Planning. Inspired by his experiences in the New York City metro area, David moved to Miami in the Summer of 2010 to pursue a Master of Public Administration at Florida International University with a focus in community development.

Before joining BlackDog, David was the lead field researcher on a National Science Foundation project on the vulnerability and resilience of rural communities after a natural disaster. He was also an analyst with the Housing Finance Authority where he was involved in the redevelopment plans of several communities throughout Miami-Dade. David brings his expertise in quantitative data to BlackDog where he assists the Internet Marketing team in identifying trends, managing complex data sets and making recommendations for new business directions.

David resides in Miami where he enjoys the beach, kayaking and the Heat. He is an avid traveler and is often on weekend getaways with his wife and their 100 lb. yellow Lab.

Danielle attended the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Mass Communications. Danielle started her career at Universal Orlando Resort in the Marketing & Sales department. As a member of the Brand Management team, Danielle assisted with the marketing strategy and execution of the theme park’s marquee events and new attractions.

As a member of the Internet Marketing team at BlackDog Advertising, Danielle designs and implements social media campaigns and contributes to search engine optimization and content generation projects.

Alexandra Sardi, Digital Production Associate

Alexandra is a graduate of Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Advertising and a minor in Art. Throughout her college career as a full-time student, Alexandra interned at the Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts and MIAMI Magazine as a Marketing/Advertising Intern. This allowed her to learn the business and creative side of marketing from researching and analyzing marketing plans to writing e-blasts, selecting visuals for TV spots, radio spots, print ads and social media.

As a member of the Internet Marketing team, Alexandra works on updating and editing content using HTML/CSS/WordPress as well as testing, monitoring and organizing our clients’ websites.

Eileen D’Costa, Account Services/Estimating

Eileen has over 13 years of experience in advertising and has been involved in all aspects of an ad agency. Whether its coordinating agency workflow, overseeing client budgets or managing all agency projects from inception to completion.

She brings her strong background in account services, client budgets and traffic/project management to BlackDog. As a member of the team, Eileen works closely with all agency departments and any third party vendors to ensure the most accurate and cost efficient estimates & proposals for our current clients and future clients. Her organizational abilities and attention to detail ensures that our clients are always a priority.
