BlackDog Advertising is looking for an experienced Business Development Assistant who will be responsible for connecting with potential prospects in need of our marketing & advertising services as well as seeking out and occasionally responding to qualified RFPs. This individual will be responsible for educating prospects on our services and establishing an initial scope of work by creating strategies and proposals. Candidate must have strong technical writing skills with RFP experience. The ideal candidate has a confident personality with a proven track record of delivering results.

Advertising, Marketing or PR Background experience is preferred but not required!

Looking for Candidates with the Following Attributes & Skill Sets:

  • 3+ years experience in managing and building new relationships
  • Ability to identify prospects and provide solutions in support of their goals
  • Proven experience building creative new business development strategies and tactics
  • Strategic thinker and consultative approach with the ability to negotiate effectively and close business deals

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Agency Principal to build a robust New Business strategy
  • Vetting & following up on incoming prospective client inquiries
  • Contacting, setting appointments and meeting directly with qualified prospective clients
  • Generating research on prospects and assembling materials to use in attracting and inciting prospects’ interest in the agency
  • Working inside of the Workamajig CRM section “Opportunities” to manage and maintain a comprehensive prospects list. Maintaining an up-to-date new business prospect database with detailed files documenting all contacts with each prospect including mailings, calls, appointments, and correspondence; recording all research, reports, sales information or other materials used or created for use in selling the agency to each prospect
  • Coordinating with the Creative, Strategy & Marketing teams to create, produce and schedule ongoing content: emails/newsletters, blog articles, paid & organic social posts and/or other marketing outreach
  • Researching, vetting and assisting Agency Principal in securing potential speaking engagements, events, round tables, expert panels, etc that align well with the agency’s goals
  • Following up on all prospect meetings with letters/agency literature
  • Staying current with upcoming RFPs and/or new business opportunities and making recommendations to management team on opportunities that align well with agency strengths and qualifications
  • Gaining a general understanding of the terminology and capabilities of the agency to speak with authority and confidence on our services
  • Staying current with emerging markets and industry trends while being fully aware of new products and competitive landscape
  • We’re not going to ask you to build a rocket ship or make coffee, but there may be new tasks that come up from time to time which are not listed in a line by line job description.   • Strong experience with digital culture along with knowledge of trends and innovation in the digital world

Software Knowledge

  • Proficient in Mac operating system
  • Proficient in Google Drive suite (Sheets, Docs, Data Studio, etc)
  • Knowledge of Workamajig is a plus


  • Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, business or related field or comparable professional experience
